Hot Stone Massage is Our Thing

hot stone therapy

Hot stone therapy is the reason clients give us many 5-star reviews.  One stroke with a warmed stone equals 10 strokes with hands.  However, I only ENHANCE my sessions with the stone work.  The warmed stones help to counteract any deeper tissue work.  It is essentially a much higher level massage.

Many massage therapists do NOT want to add in stones because cleaning and caring for basalt stones is a LOT OF EXTRA WORK.  Plain and simple.

AFTER-MASSAGE SORENESS

Years ago, when I first started out, I would ask clients if they wanted hot stone therapy added to their session.  Many said yes.  But, the ones who refused, I started noticing that their session was not as effective.  They experienced more discomfort AFTER their session because of the deep tissue work and compression pressure.  They felt way better, but they had that nagging mild soreness.

I have spent the last 14 years trying out different modalities in an effort to create sessions that leave my clients literally feeling like a brand new person WHEN THEY GET OFF THE TABLE.  That has been my goal from day one.

I have experienced this after-massage soreness myself many times getting regular Swedish massage from other massage therapists.  I have gotten a LOT of massages in the last 15 years and I really do not like experiencing soreness for a week or more after getting deep tissue where the therapist used a lot of pressure.  There was nothing to counteract that use of pressure.

Now, when my male therapist works on me, I don’t experience that after-massage soreness.  He is incredible in using the warmed stones (just like me) in different ways that help to get me out of pain and help greatly with muscle recovery.  Plus, if I have areas where he can barely use any pressure because I have been exercising and strained an area, he can STILL work quite deeply by doing HOT STONE DEEP TISSUE.

HOT STONE DEEP TISSUE

Hot stone deep tissue is a technique that I developed while working at Marengo Spa in the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Cleveland.  Using warmed stones in areas where there is muscle strain, tension, or discomfort is very effective and powerful.  The work feels more SOOTHING to the client.  And the results are amazing.

SWEDISH MASSAGE AND LOMI LOMI

The stones only ENHANCE my base massage which is a mixture of Swedish and Hawaiian Lomi Lomi.  The Lomi Lomi part allows me to use great pressure for clients who prefer that.
